Happy birthday, Kathryn. I hope you enjoy today - and each day after, too. I hope everyone who is attending events for the jubilee enjoy themselves. I myself am a republican, so will be staying well away from anything to do with it!

That makes three Republicans on one thread. No prizes for guessing who the third is.

I look forward to seeing your photos, Kathryn. I don't celebrate my birthday, but have an anniversary on the second Tuesday in June. That was yesterday, exactly 21 years alcohol-free.

I'm in my new flat now, and spent many hours bird-watching out of the window during Jubilee weekend. I've identified nine species so far, but haven't seen the wrens I've been told about. I've even bought a new book on British birds.

On bank holiday Monday I went to my art group, and tentatively discussed with two others the possibility of carrying on informally when this course finishes. I really hope this idea comes to fruition, but premises might be a problem. Normally, an art group will rent a space which it sub-divides, and members have 24 hour access.

I can't see this happening because things in Cambridge are expensive, but I'm going to moot the idea of renting space on a regular daily or hourly basis, with the potential of an exhibition there at some future date.

Anybody have any suggestions? All ideas welcome.
