Selling Art is hard enough but what happens to all of the paintings that someone will one day inherit?
Hi Eileen, Thanks for all that info..where do you live>? My fav singer is Joe Longthorne, although I like lots of others singers too. My favourite band of the 60s was of course The Shadows, but also loved...The Hollies, The 4 Seasons, The Beachboys, in fact there was very little I didn't like. I had a passion for Big Band sound too, as well as Jazz, Blues, and Country. As I have got older I've mellowed a little, and oddly enough had a go at palying some rock songs, which I really like. from people like Z Z Top and Free. How we live and learn..haha.. chat soon Eileen x
...oh, I forgot - I DO like a couple of modern bands - The Script and fun are rather good as are Eureka Machines!
I'm from (have a look at the avatar...!LOL!) Liverpool and I was singing from age 13 (Beatles, Merseysound mostly) through to age 23 (at this point mainly covers and cabaret ( Mamas and Papas stuff, 'Na na na na' 'Gimme Good Lovin'') with a large helping of rock and folk-rock ('Meet on the Edge', Money' ) you know, the usual! I played rythm at times and had a Les Paul copy plus a Yamaha 12 string. Fave current? Not many I'm afraid - fairly unimpressed with most modern music and tend to hark back to Queen, Metallica, Derek & the Dominoes, Wildhearts, Tom Petty, Morten Harket ....I have hundreds of cd's in a very wide area of genres.
The one song that was always associated with me was 'House of the Rising Sun'.
Not played my guitar for some time due to arthritis in my hands and the fact my musician son nicked it! LOL! (only kidding, I could have it back anytime but he's so much better than I ever was guitar-wise and he writes like an angel too.).
Hi Eileen, Thanks for your response. I am pleased to learn that you used to sing. I'm just curious as to which Town or City your from. Also, I would love to know which period of songs you used to sing, and some of the songs you sang. Who are your favourite current singers. And finally... do you play an instrument? Best Wishes __ Bill x
I also draw & paint and do papercrafts and any other messy creative you can think of! What I lack is the ability to make money out of it! LOL!
Even if, by some miracle, I did start to make money out of it, we're then back to the awful business of books... Yeuchh...!
Ei's Messy Things... well, some of them anyway!
What a great idea William!
I used to sing in bands from 1965 - 1974 when I started my family and I have missed it! I'm not in the areas you mention so wouldn't be eligible for your association but it's an intriguing idea!
Hugs Ei x

Hello people, I hope I haven't picked the wrong group here... by thinking the word Art, includes...The Arts!
As a newcomer to this site I am very impressed by the content provided for all mature citizens.
I was a little surprised though at not being able to find a Music section... perhaps I have overlooked it if it exists. (not including the area for Grey Pride Band)
As a musician and singer, I just wondered if any of the members in Grey Pride would be interested in forming a 60s cover band? I don't drive so would be asking people who live in and around the Oldham, Rochdale, Manchester area to respond. I'm beginning to think that when you get to a certain age, you become invisible. I have been involved with music all my life, and would love to put together a really good band of 'mature musicians' any sex...just ability to play is all that is required. Surely...at 65 there is room for like-minded musicians to still enthuse an audience ? I believe so. Do You?
My biggest problem is...I don't drive. Can anyone help?
I don't want to spend time up and down motorways to do gigs, but will do private functions locally, and gigs locally. Perhaps 1 per month..
