Pondering the problems of the world

As I was lying around, pondering the problems of the world, I realized that at my age I don't really give a rat's arse anymore... If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal... A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, but is still fat... A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years, while.. A tortoise doesn't run and does mostly nothing, yet it lives for 150 years. And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so.Just grant me the senility to forget the people I…See More

The computer swallowed Grandma!

The computer swallowed Grandma, Yes, honestly it's true! She pressed control and enter And disappeared from view. It devoured her completely, The thought just made me squirm, She must have caught a virus Or been eaten by a worm. I've searched through the recycle bin And files of every kind, I've even used the Internet, But nothing did I find. In desperation, I asked Mr Google My searches to refine The reply from him was negative, Not a thing was found online. So, if inside your inbox My Grandma…See More

The Winter of my Life

You know. . . Time has a way of moving quickly And catching you unaware of the passing years .It seems just yesterday that I was young , Just married and embarking on my new life with my mate . And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago , And I wonder where all the years went !I know that I lived them all   ...And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams   ... But, here it is  ... The winter of my life , and it catches me by surprise  ...How did I get here so fast ?…See More

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50!

Don't overdo it at first...... Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 10-lb potato bag in each hand…See More

Three Little Words

If someone mentioned the phrase "three little words" what would your mind conjure up?  So many of the most significant messages that people deliver to one another often come in just three words.  When spoken or conveyed, those statements have the power to forge new friendships, deepen old ones and restore relationships that have cooled.  The following three word phrases can enrich every relationship every bit as much as the most obvious one.I am here. Being there for another person is the…See More

The Starfish

Every little thing we do makes a difference. No matter how small it seems, it could be huge to someone else. Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Off in the distance he could see a person going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth this person went. As the man approached, he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide. The man was stuck by…See More

Hello Stephen

Many thanks for your message abotu that puzzle - very interesting.

I thought I'd send you a quick message to draw your attention to a new topic I've just posted about community resources as I think you'd have some good thoughts to share on the topic!

I'm looking to encourage us all to discuss local resources and community events, and as quite an active member of the site, and a family north-easterner (!), I was wondering if there any local projects in your area you'd like to tell people about? You can see my post and reply to it here.

Look forward to hearing from you

Kathryn
