Richard Wilson OBE backs Grey Pride!

Acclaimed television and stage actor Richard Wilson OBE has joined our call on the Government to appoint a Minister for Older People.  He had this to say about the campaign:

"As a fully qualified member of the older generation on and off screen, I fully empathise with Anchor's Grey Pride campaign to appoint a Minister for Older People. It would be a big step in securing the support needed for older people to truly enjoy their twilight…

Grey is the New Blonde

At last!  There’s a backlash from older women against what we are all ‘supposed’ to look like.  Ben Barry from Cambridge University, surveyed 3000 women between the ages of 40 and 65.  90% of them were more likely to buy fashion products where the models were of similar age and, importantly, looked like them.

Finally some fashion stores are acknowledging that all ages need to be represented.  Marks…

A CAUTIONARY TALE......IF A NEIGHBOUR WANTS TO TURN HIS HOUSE INTO A HOTEL.......SAY NO !!!!!

Hi, a number of you will have seen the serious situation I am now living in, due to the continual harrasement of the "neighbour from hell".  Our house are situated on one acre of land of which he owns just over half (I own the remainder).

If I had only had the foresight to say no to his request to turn the house he owns into a hotel, I would not be in the position I am in now.   I could not see the harm in anybody wanting to turn their house into a hotel then, but urge anybody who is…

RAISE THE AGE TO BECOME A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, EASY ENOUGH TO SET NEW EXAMS

I would love to become a Justice of the Peace, I am well educated, well read, non biased and non prejudiced, logical and practical and whats more I listen and look.   I get on with and have met many people from all walks of life and all ages.   Think its important to look at causes as well as outcomes.   But I am too old at 70....what a waste and so many of us out there could do such a find job and take some of the heat off the shoulders of the overworked courts.

Wonder if there are…

My Gran

Hello,

I just wanted to write a quick post about my gran, and how proud I am of her.

Earlier this year, my sister had her first child, a boy, making my parents grandparents - and my grandma a very proud great-grandmother. Apparently she wouldn't stop telling everyone she met about the new arrival, and her new title.

It was my nephew's christening last weekend, so I travelled home. I don't get home so much these days, maybe once every…

SCRAP ALL THESE COMPLICATED FORMS..THEY DO NOT HELP ANYBODY.

For too long now we are presented with long and difficult forms to fill in, for those of us who have had a good education that's fine, and even then we can still struggle.

I do believe these complicated forms are a deliberate act to prevent people from either seeking help or their rights.   For those who are disabled or mentally deficient it must be a nightmare.

WHERE ARE THE 'HUMAN RIGHTS' FOR THE ELDERLY???????

We seem to have a plethora of Human Rights for just about everybody on the blasted Planet, except for the elderly, disabled and the very young.   Its time we had "Human Rights" right here in this country.

AM I INVISIBLE?.......NOW I HAVE RETIRED?

despite contacting the Police, the Council, my MP, the Chief Constable of the area I live in, I appear to be invisible.   My neighbour is making my life an absolute hell, but nobody cares.   When is there going to be some real help for the elderly.   Each organization passes the buck, we can't help you, but maybe the ........... (the list is endless) and so it goes on...for 12 years this hell has been going on.   Now I do not have a tv station, radio station, my phone line is listend into or…

MY WONDERFUL NEIGHBOURS

I live on a sheltered housing estate belonging to Birmingham City Council. It is for people aged 50+ and consists of two tower blocks, eight storeys each, side by side with a communal lounge in between. This building also contains a laundry room and kitchen, and the support officer's office. It isn't the most picturesque place on Earth, but I love it for several reasons.

Firstly, I moved here having lost my previous flat, and it is my sanctuary away from the buffets of my previous…

A little humour can get you into trouble - WARNING: not for the easily embarrassed!

You can call this blog 'Grey Sex in the City' if you like. Except that I don't look anything like Sarah Jessica Parker, and certainly don't dress in frilly tutus and Jimmy Choo heels!

A friend phoned me yesterday, still giggling at a situation she and her partner had got themselves into the previous night. She's given me permission to write about it here so that people can share the humour...

They are both in their early 60s, having been 'dating' since last Christmas, and only…

Centre of Excellence for the Needs of the Elderly

Eastbourne is renowned for being a great place for the elderly, providing a wonderful climate, environment, accommodation, entertainment and care. I am campaigning to have the powers that be develop the town as a Centre of Excellence in the Needs of the Elderly, by integrating the resources and showing a lead such that the twon becomes even more attractive to incoming investment catering for the elderly. Any support or ideas gratefully received.
