WE MUST STOP WALKING BY PEOPLE IN DISTRESS...
Recently I went shopping in a large supermarket in Horsham W. Sussex, as I was putting my shopping into my car, I heard a man screaming for help in the distance. As I cannot walk fast I could not run to his aid, but the remainder of the people coming out of their cars just walked to the supermarket ignoring his desperate cries...
I shouted out load at all the people to run to the man's aid, showing my walking stick saying I cannot get there quick enough...and to call the…

HOW ABOUT ADOPTIVE/FOSTER GRANDPARENTS FOR OUR CHILDREN IN CARE?
THERE ARE A LOT OF CHILDREN OF VARIOUS AGES RESIDING IN CHILDRENS HOMES/ORPHANGES, AWAITING EITHER FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE PARENTS.
WHY NOT SET UP A REGISTER OF ADOPTIVE/FOSTER GRANDPARENTS? AS APPARENTLY THERE ARE MORE OF SENIOR CITIZENS THAN THE UNDER SIXTEENS'S
OF COURSE PROPER CHECKS WOULD HAVE TO BE MADE TO PROTECT THE YOUNGSTERS AGAINST PAEDOPHILLIA/ABUSE ETC., BUT WE HAVE SO MANY SENIOR CITIZENS WHO HAVE MORE PATIENCE AND TIME ON THEIR HANDS THAN THE YOUNGER AND…

GREY WATCHDOGS
Would it be possbile that we collectively have a good shopppers guide, may it include mystery shopping, look at the way some supermarkets try to present there special offers touching on deception, by showing similar positioned in place of, (be aware at checkout) and that we can encourage retailers and energy suppliers etc. to have the opportunity to make a small discount to OAPs rather like B&Q Wed. offer . these would then be shown on this site, also those…

Just to let you know what Doncaster 50plus Older People's Parliament are up to. We are in the process of organising a Older People's Information Day where we are hoping a good many organisations/groups will have a stand to promote themselves and also give information to all older people.
I will keep you posted on any updates on further information about this.

Missing
She waited,
hoping her years of caring
endured in grown-up minds,
... rested in distant hearts,
conveyed how much she missed them.
She waited,
living real-time movies
of restless nights, anxious days
with inhaled hopes of fellowship,
exhaled sighs of deep despair.
She waited,
wishing…

Get the most out of life
As you get old(er)
As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend..
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love .. I will.
I will walk…

Dedicated Minister for Older people.
last nights main BBC news it was revealed that older people are being neglected badly.
We need a Dedicated Minister for Older People to look after their interests. In Scotland this post is shared by two ministers and we feel older people are still being pushed to one side for their other interests. It needs to be a new Minister for the dedication required.
Every election we hear of what the leading parties will do for older people but it never seems to…

On the back of news coverage around the rights of grandparents who play a pivotal role in their families, it is interesting to see the contributions made by different generations and how roles are adapting in response to changes in family dynamics.

Just joined. Sixty eight years old. Have 4 children ages from 40 to 13. Still full-time employed as professional charity fundraiser. Looking at the petition - is there another way rather than a £70,000 a year rep for older people ? Really dunno...........thinking of 60's - style people power/banners/billboards/popconcerts/grandchildren....etc etc
Think there's gotta be another way rather than a single person who will for sure be syphoned off...............

Last weekend I was at Charleston House in Sussex, once the home of Virginia Woolf, to receive my award as a finalist for the Asham Literary Award (Virago Books). When I was diagnosed with bipolar 4 years ago and lost everything, I decided to live an authentic life in future: no more fitting into other people's moulds. And as part of that I began writing in earnest. First it was newspaper and magazine articles (non-fiction is safer when one is fragile, I find). And last summer I bit the…
