Hi friends - I was thrilled to be named one of this year's two Age UK Internet Champions at an award ceremony at the Royal Society, London, last week. The trophy (see my Facebook page) was presented by the wonderful and kind June Whitfield.
I share the title with James Perry (92 from the Isle of Sheppey). We were selected because we have amazing stories of how we endured our own computing and internet challenges and are now helping and encouraging other older people to do the…Continue
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What happens if you're all grown up and still don't have an answer to this question? What if you're 60 years old and feel as if all your dreams are long buried?

The current reality of millions, and…Continue

This week marks the final three days of recordings for the Anchor Community Band’s song, See Yourself.
Annesley Lodge in Nottingham is the first recording venue this week where the band project has enabled 89-year-old Derek D’Hooghe, who used to play the drums to the troops in Burma during the Second World War, to perform again for the first time in many years.

The computer swallowed Grandma,
Yes, honestly it's true!
She pressed control and enter
And disappeared from view.
It devoured her completely,
The thought just made me squirm,
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.
I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind,
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.
In desperation, I asked Mr Google
My searches to refine…
I am sorry I have not been around for some time. Unfortunately my Norm was quite unwell for some time and that focused my mind on helping my own rather than helping others.
I a pleased to say all is well with Norm now and we have moved to Fareham and I am back in full fundraising mode again.
Our latest venture is The TOGs Marathon. Now you may think you are not capable of doing a marathon, well the TOGs way, everyone is capable, because we all do what we can and…Continue

For a while there I was worried. After this I am no longer concerned.
The wise one is telling me I have arrived.
ARE WE THE ONES WHO ARE AGING?
Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.
I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the
teenager at the…
