Doncaster 50plus held there Older People's Information Fair last Tuesday once again an excellent event and well attended, 24 organisations attended;

Last night I watched Inside Out TV Programme on BBC at 7.30pm.  The programme was about the Welfare of older people.

Top of the list was depression and isolation and who is going to pay for medical treatment for the elderly in the future

The Government seem to skip over the issues and welfare of older people and to me we do not look after the elderly in this country at all and that is shameful.

I am doing some research in to elderly people who are lonely,  I am looking for some feedback, so if you know of anyone or if anyone would like to contact me please do.

I am trying to find out what we can do about this. 

if anyone has been through this but has had a positive outcome please let me know, I would be very interested to hear from anyone.

Doncaster 50plus is holding another Older People's Information Fair  on the 6th November in the Mansion House.  The last one we had back in February was a huge success so we are hoping for more of the same.

Doncaster 50plus will be holding a members meeting on the 27th September in the Mansion House.

This will give a chance for our members to have there say and ask us what they would like us to do. 

This gives us a chance to keep in contact with our members hopefully quite a few will turn up.

As the 50plus Project worker I have been very busy so sorry that I have not been around so much.

On the 12th September myself and another colleague who is our 50plus Welfare officer are starting a new project Life Cafe in Balby, Doncaster.  This for anyone who is 50 and over and this will revolve round the campaing to End Loneliness.  This will give a chance for people to network, make new friends and learn new skills.  I will keep you posted regarding this project. 

Hope someone could help me.  This may be a long shot but, I would like very much to contact Esther Rantzen as I see from the news that she is also very interested in the campaign to end loneliness.  Is there anyone who could help get in touch with her please.

Hi to all of you, we held the launch of the Doncaster 50plus Roadshow on March 21st and it was very successful.  The roadshow was launched by our Civic Mayor Eva Hughes.  It was a good time for everyone to network and the buffet was brilliant, thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to our Civic Mayor.

This roadshow now will go throughout the Borough of Doncaster and will include a presentation on what 50plus is all about, campaign to end loneliness and the setting up of life…

Hello to everyone, Doncaster 50plus is holding an Older People's Information Day on February 7th at the Mansion House and this has generated a great deal of interest and we have 32 organisations taking part.

BBC Radio Sheffield have contacted Doncaster 50plus regarding what we can do for the elderly that will be on their own for Christmas.  This programme will be going out tomorrow morning 8.25 and Clifford who is our Editor of Prime Times our newsletter will be doing an interview on the radio regarding this issue.

Hi everyone, myself and Madeline our Treasurer of Doncaster 50plus attended the event yesterday at the Houses of Parliament in the Churchill Room for the petition of an Older People's Minister.  I would like to say what a brilliant event we both enjoyed it so much and also got to meet other people as well,  The speakers were great.  I would like to say that Simon and Natalie were fantastic hosts and it was lovelly to meet them.  We took some good photo's and they will be going in our 50plus…

Our Doncaster 50plus Support Services Group are starting a campaign for "Loneliness".  As we are all aware a lot of older people live alone and feel isolated and especially with Christmas coming up a lot of older people spend it alone.  Our group's first meeting will be on Tuesday where we will discuss this campaing and start putting things in motion to tackle this issue.  I will keep you updated on our progress.

Just to let you know what Doncaster 50plus Older People's Parliament are up to.  We are in the process of organising a Older People's Information Day where we are hoping a good many organisations/groups will have a stand to promote themselves and also give information to all older people.
