Age UK blog on the need for a dedicated Minister for Older People

Caroline Abrahams, Age UK’s Director of External Affairs, has discussed our Grey Pride call for a Minister for Older People, in her blog on the Age UK website.

Our successful debate in the House of Commons, which took place last month, is highlighted and Ms Abrahams also explains how Age UK’s experience of dealing with Government has proven that; “there is definitely scope for better co-ordination in Whitehall so far as policy affecting older people is concerned.”

The need for the role to have both status and support is reiterated as Ms Abrahams calls for the position to bring the needs and views of older people into the mainstream of Government business.
Our Grey Pride campaign is backed by 30 leading organisations concerned with older people’s issues as well as politicians from all the leading political parties. Blogs from our supporters help keep our campaign in the spotlight so please be sure to share them!
