And so the fight continues................

As a child of the '60's I am just coming up to what was, until last year, my official retirement age of 65 but for various reasons, I will continue working for some years yet.  This is partly because I must in order to keep the cash coming in but more importantly, it's because I actually want to.  The big difference is that I am now working in an environment that I want to rather than being employed by a company that regards me as extraneous to their HR requirements.

Having served 15 years in the Royal Navy in The Submarine Service during the Cold War years, I spent the next 30 years in the security industry working in such diverse locations as the Middle East, Russia and the Far East.  Now that I am past rolling around with people who are trying to kill me, I have made a major change of direction.

As a qualified Counsellor, I now spend my time helping people with a range of problems including marital problems, substance abuse and self-esteem issues.  I am also an accredited Mediator and an accredited Appropriate Adult helping young people and vulnerable adults who come into contact with the UK Criminal Justice System.

Add to that my voluntary position of Area Co-ordinator of the Gosport Children's Contact Centre and as a Local Preacher with the Methodist Church and you can see that me time is pretty much fully taken up.
