Another MP has thrown their weight behind the campaign this week, proving that simply letting people know what we are trying to achieve really can be all it takes to boost our numbers!

On Friday Rehman Chishti, MP for Gillingham and Rainham, signed the petition and voiced his support for Grey Pride during a visit to a retirement housing scheme.

Mr Chishti was contacted by Alma York, manager of Signal Court in Rainham, and invited to meet staff and residents from the local area at a coffee morning.  

After hearing about our campaign to ensure that older people’s interests are better represented at the very highest level, Mr Chishti signed the petition and commented;

“People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in old age and I believe that a dedicated minster for older people will help to safeguard these principles.”

If you believe in Grey Pride and have signed the petition, why think others won’t also? They just need to know about it!

We are counting on all Grey Priders to tell everyone they know about the need for a dedicated Minister for Older People and our petition to get one appointed.

Tell the people you see everyday. Your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, even local shops and groups. Print a petition and ask to put it up in your gym, coffee shop, community centre, staff room, library, anywhere where it will get noticed.

Tell your online friends. We’ve already established that you guys are more than computer literate.

If you use other community sites why not tell those friends about us and send out a link to the online petition?

We are tweeting campaign messages on Twitter so be sure to retweet them for all your followers to see. And don’t forget to post the link to this site as a Facebook status.

Getting politicians onside is not that hard. You don’t need to have a venue in which you can meet your local MP, you can simply send them our letter template. You are their constituents; they will take notice!

And remember: if we don’t ask we don’t get! So please ask people to sign our petition!
